Meet P Bailey
The inspired human soul.
Many have compared P Bailey's beautiful soul renditions and his five-octave range to Ron Isley from the Isley Brothers fame.
P Bailey is originally from the UK. In grade school, his inspiration and sense of music impressed the principal, Miss Johnston, who encouraged him to continue. Motown and Muscle Shoals artists influenced him early, followed by Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Jackson had a big Influence on him as a singer/songwriter. With no formal training Bailey developed his singing and writing style by listening to his favorite artists of the day: Ron Isley, Donny Hathaway, Luther Van dross, Michael Jackson, Prince and James Brown.
In those early years, P Bailey pleased crowds in community talent shows, singing and dancing to his favorite songs. During a chance meeting at Checkers, a popular night club in Montreal, Paul met members of the stone city band and forwarded a demo. Super Star 'Rick James' later used a sample of his song 'Part time Lover' on the sound track of the movie Colors. It was an exciting time and his first real break.
Later, while doing session work he met Robby Demlakian, the DJ who co-produced the single "Get on Board". "Get on Board" is a 12-inch house mix, recorded with his group Walter P.P.K., which rose to number 3 on the house dance charts in the UK and won him the Professional Publishers & Songwriters award from Factor, a grant foundation. With his new group Scandalous, P won the monthly Demo Clip contest produced by Much Music, which was the first Urban act to win this prestigious award. The song 'Desire' was chosen for a video clip.
