A live studio recording of Amanda and her 6 piece band, capturing what they do best ... playing live. Meet Amanda Baker
Ms. Baker is best described as "Soul Rock, Modern Woodstock"... Amanda has a unique take on the classic sounds that she blends into real music, touching on real issues. She has been described as having the vocal beauty of Joni Mitchell, the soul of Joss Stone, but the bite of Janis Joplin. Ms.Baker was the winner of 'Best Live Act' at the 2007 Musicoz Awards and was named as "the woman to watch." Ms. Baker has well and truly been making her mark on an international scale after also winning 'Best Music Video' for her song "Addictions," at the 2007 Digifestival in Florence, as well as being the closing act for the film festival. Amanda Baker - The QueenAn independent singer/songwriter, Amanda has been described as a "diva" due to her soulful vocal style and command of the stage. Her lyrics, both witty and catchy, profess the comments of a girl who doesn't stumble on her words and declares to the world, "I'm not here to be a princess, I'm here to be the Queen" (taken from her new single "The Queen.") This is the slogan on her t-shirts, which took out 'Best Swag' at the IMA's (USA). Ms. Baker released 2 EP's in 2008, one a fully produced collection of songs produced by three different producers and co-produced by Amanda herself. The second being a live studio recording of her and her 6 piece band, capturing what they do best, playing live. Amanda & her multi-instrumentalist husband Luke Bourne have written a track for the up-coming film The Waiting City starring Joel Edgerton, Radah Mitchell and Isabell Lucas, which is due for release at the end of the year. Blues, Rock and Gospel InfluencesIn 2005, Amanda spent 10 months in Sydney writing and recording her debut album Superstitious Woman. The album fuses her blues, rock and gospel influences into an original, contemporary, groundbreaking sound. Each song has its own unique style and story and demonstrates her versatility and range as a vocal artist and a writer. Her versatility also comes from writing with husband Luke Bourne and the rare unspoken musical bond they possess. Amanda touches on subjects of drug addiction, world violence, domestic violence, self-identity, love of music and enjoying life. She sings about her life and experiences with maturity, depth and soul. The cover of her debut album, shot by her brother, cinematographer Denson Baker ACS, won 'Best Album Art' photography at the IMA's(USA). Digifestival Jury Member, Roli Mosimann (Producer of Faith No More, Smashing Pumpkins) said, "Amanda Baker impressed me most with her abilities and rare talent of transporting the emotional content of her music straight to the heart, without filters or distractions. She is not just singing a great song about a difficult subject, she is telling a story and lets you feel and participate in what it all means to her in a way only great musicians can do. Beware! A truly addictive voice." Band Members: web: amandabakermusic.com |
